Angie Taylor is a traditionally-trained sculptor who has worked as a digital artist since the 1980âs.
Her work explores themes of identity, isolation & otherness â often championing lifeâs misfits and highlighting the struggles faced by them.
Her highly-distinctive style is hard to pin down but has been described by some as Punk-Expressionism â a unique mix of punk art, naive art, pop art & expressionistic aesthetics and themes.
Her work juxtaposes the DIY ethic of punk, fresh immediacy of naĂŻve art & complexity of VR & 3D technology.
Angie Taylor runs her own private art school, called Creative Cabin. Here she teaches art, design, sculpture, 3D and animation to artists and designers. Angie also runs classes for children in art & design subjects.

Inspired by, and dedicated to 1970’s UK punk band, The Clash. This song is the epitome of punk and rebel rock.
The words remind me of the fears I have for Cryptoart – can we avoid falling for the same traps that killed off the Punk and Rebel Rock movements?
Midnight to six, man For the first time from Jamaica Dillinger and Leroy Smart Delroy Wilson – cool operator
Ken Boothe – UK pop reggae With backin’ band sound-systems If they got anything to say There’s many black ears here to listen
But it was Four Tops all night with encores from stage right Charging from the bass knives to the treble But onstage they ain’t got no roots rock rebel Onstage they ain’t got no… roots rock rebel
Dress back, jump back, this is a bluebeat attack ‘Cause it won’t get you anywhere Foolin’ with the guns The British Army is waitin’ out there An’ it weighs fifteen hundred tons White youth, black youth Better find another solution Why not phone up Robin Hood And ask him for some wealth distribution?
Punk rocker in the UK They won’t notice anyway They’re all too busy fightin’ For a good place under the lightin’ The new groups are not concerned With what there is to be learned They got Burton suits, huh, ya’ think it’s funny Turnin’ rebellion into money
All over people changin’ their votes Along with their overcoats If Adolf Hitler flew in today They’d send a limousine anyway I’m the all-night drug-prowling’ wolf Who looks so sick in the sun Just out – lookin’ for fun Only – lookin’ for fun Please mister Just leave me alone
Lyrics by Joe Strummer and Mick Jones

This piece is in reaction to the negative reaction to the popularity of Cryptoart. A similar phenomenon happened during the punk movement in the 1970’s where musicians attacked punks for being amateurish and ruining music. This piece refers back to the punk past and looks forward to a future where cryptoartists are able to create art without fear of being bullied.
Scattered mind is the name of my latest project. It’s a VR art experience which explores the workings of the creative mind. I’m currently looking for funding to finish this project that was started as part of my artists residency at Fusebox in Brighton.
I’m particularly interested in how nature can offer a refuge to creative people, in particular those with neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD & Autism as well as mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
You enter into a spooky woodland, birds singing and mist falling. The trees are part human. Metamorphosis is also something of interest to me – the connection between us and the natural world. How plants and animals communicate with us – if only we could learn to listen. Scattered Mind encourages us to do so.
You head towards a giant tree, full of gargoyles and sculptures. Along the way you can throw seed bombs that will allow more flowers to grow in the woodland. Enter the tree and look up to see a staircase that takes you up inside the tree.
Within each of the branches is a new world to explore. These include the Classroom of Misfits. A classroom that teaches you lessons about acceptance, bullying and exclusion.
In here you can read a book about the witches who were persecuted and killed in Scotland during the witch hunts. Just for being different. You can throw chairs and paper balls at the teacher or just sit and listen to the wisdom on offer.
There are many other worlds to visit, icluding the Museum of Unfinished Projects, The Opium Den of Distraction – complete with is own Come Down Slide and many others.
This was my first landscape drawing in Tiltbrush. As I’d just started in VR drawing, I went for a cartoony style. I loved the ability to zoom in so I was standing on a flower petal, drawing the swirl in the middle of the flower. A minuet later I was zoomed out, drawing the tree with a single brush. I love the freedom of drawing in VR.
In this tutorial, Angie Taylor demonstrates how to use the amazing width tool in Adobe illustrator on line art. Use the width tool to create variety in your line work.
After Effects Expressions for Premiere Pro Editors is a creative, project-based workshop. Editors take a basic Premiere Pro edit and bring it to life using After Effects expressions and Dynamic Link, following author Angie Taylor’s expert instructions. The concepts are broken down into manageable 3â5 minute videos, covering techniques such as randomizing effects, linking animation and color to sound, automating animation, and more.
Expressions is an advanced feature of After Effectsthat many editors shy away from. The perception is that you need to be good at scriptingto be able to use them, but this isn’t the case. Some basic expressions are easy to applyusing simple point-and-click methods.
Many of these basic expressions are easy to useand can be really useful to editorsfor adding randomness to animation or effect settingsor for linking properties togetherto synchronize animated elementsor colors in an integrated design, even making effects react to music.
After Effects Expressions for Premiere Pro editorsis a creative real-world, project-based workshop. In this workshop, editors will take a basic Premiere Pro editand bring it to life using After Effects expressionsand dynamic link. Each stage of the project is dealt with in separate sectionsand concepts are broken down into manageable chunkswithin each section. This workshop will take a fairly standard editfor an online video ad,and it will add animation, cohesive design, and pizzazz to make it really stand out.
Topics include randomizing effect propertiesto create camera shake effects, linking color and light properties to audio, creating disco light effects, synchronizing color and other design elementsto update automatically, and looping keyframes to create a lightning strike effect. You’ll also find out about some nasty gotchas to avoidwhile working with expressions. So, what are you waiting for?Jump in and get started with After Effects Expressions for Premiere Pro Editors.
If your budget doesnât stretch to pricey plug-in filters you can use the native effects to create fantastic 3D fire in After Effects. Read my article in Digital Arts about how to achieve this. The tutorial features a step-by-step guide that’s easy to follow.
After Effects includes built-in particle filters you can use in your projects. Although they are not as powerful as some of the specialist 3D particle filters (like Trapcodeâs amazing Particular plug-in), you can use them to achieve fairly convincing animations of natural phenomena such as fire, smoke, rain and dust.
All you need is patience and a natural affinity for tweaking sliders. In this tutorial, Angie Taylor shows you how to create fire, smoke effects and 3D rocks, all using After Effectsâ built-in 3D particle filters, to create part of the title sequence for animation, Hellwoman, a spoof of the movie Hellboy.
Home Counties entered the awards. In this picture the design wins gold award in the Domestic Above-Ground Pool category at the third European Pool & Spa Awards. Hosted by the European Union of Swimming Pool and Spa Associations (EUSA), the award had stiff competition from across the continent.
Craig Trusson (pictured, far left), who co-owns Home Counties with his wife, Gil, was ecstatic to receive such a high honor. âWe are thrilled with our European win,â he gushed. âTo be highlighted in the EUSA awards alongside such strong competition across Europe is a significant acknowledgement for our company and our entire team.â
The clean lines and natural tones integrate with the surrounding environment, helping to make this Endless Pool installation a gold-standard winner! Designed by Angie Taylor and Ed Haunton of EH Treecare Ltd. The pool was installed by Home Counties Pools and Hot Tubs. The decking and pool cladding was built by EH Treecare Ltd. The installation won gold at the British Pool & Hot Tub Awards, and now has taken the gold again at the European Pool & Spa Awards.
This Performance Endless Pool was featured at the 2013 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final London before being purchased for one familyâs swimming and recreation. The Perfomance model boasts a larger, smoother, and (at top speed) faster current than the Original Endless Pool. Its compact frame makes it more affordable to heat ⊠even in Brighton!
EUSA represents over 3,000 swimming pool and spa companies across Europe; a panel of top industry professionals from EUSAâs membership juried the awards, which were handed out in Barcelona earlier this month. The organization was founded in 2006 to promote unity among the members of the wet leisure industry across Europe.
