Angie is a motion graphic designer with over thirty years experience, working in the film and television industry. She has written several books, articles and video training courses about creative software applications and motion graphic design.

Work on real world projects
Anyone can follow step-by-step tutorials but we don’t believe that this “watch and follow” technique is the best approach for learning software – it doesn’t cultivate confidence. Our aim is to get you to a stage where you use the software intuitively.

After Effects Learn by Video is included in the course
Training includes all source files and fourteen hours of video training written by Angie Taylor and Todd Kopriva (Adobe’s technical support lead for professional video software). You can use these files to extend your knowledge and retrace your steps again after the course.
This piece is in reaction to the negative reaction to the popularity of Cryptoart. A similar phenomenon happened during the punk movement in the 1970’s where musicians attacked punks for being amateurish and ruining music. This piece refers back to the punk past and looks forward to a future where cryptoartists are able to create art without fear of being bullied.
Scattered mind is the name of my latest project. It’s a VR art experience which explores the workings of the creative mind. I’m currently looking for funding to finish this project that was started as part of my artists residency at Fusebox in Brighton.
I’m particularly interested in how nature can offer a refuge to creative people, in particular those with neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD & Autism as well as mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
You enter into a spooky woodland, birds singing and mist falling. The trees are part human. Metamorphosis is also something of interest to me – the connection between us and the natural world. How plants and animals communicate with us – if only we could learn to listen. Scattered Mind encourages us to do so.
You head towards a giant tree, full of gargoyles and sculptures. Along the way you can throw seed bombs that will allow more flowers to grow in the woodland. Enter the tree and look up to see a staircase that takes you up inside the tree.
Within each of the branches is a new world to explore. These include the Classroom of Misfits. A classroom that teaches you lessons about acceptance, bullying and exclusion.
In here you can read a book about the witches who were persecuted and killed in Scotland during the witch hunts. Just for being different. You can throw chairs and paper balls at the teacher or just sit and listen to the wisdom on offer.
There are many other worlds to visit, icluding the Museum of Unfinished Projects, The Opium Den of Distraction – complete with is own Come Down Slide and many others.
This was my first landscape drawing in Tiltbrush. As I’d just started in VR drawing, I went for a cartoony style. I loved the ability to zoom in so I was standing on a flower petal, drawing the swirl in the middle of the flower. A minuet later I was zoomed out, drawing the tree with a single brush. I love the freedom of drawing in VR.

After Effects includes built-in particle filters you can use in your projects. Although they are not as powerful as some of the specialist 3D particle filters (like Trapcode’s amazing Particular plug-in), you can use them to achieve fairly convincing animations of natural phenomena such as fire, smoke, rain and dust.
All you need is patience and a natural affinity for tweaking sliders.
