Repressed Expressionism

Repressed Expressionism

Many of us who chose to dress in an exhibitionist way are really unable to communicate well in more traditional ways. Because we couldn’t talk openly
about our deepest darkest fears and experiences, we chose another form of expression, via music, art and dress.

Its only on reflection, later in life that we recognize the reasons for the things we do when we are young. The feeling of not having a voice, or having your voice taken away from you is horribly frustrating.

Dancing With Myself

Dancing With Myself

There’s a constant battle in the life of an artist. My current battle is with the decision about which style to follow. I create abstract exxpressionist sculptures with naive-art influences. I also love to create cartoon-style punk characters. As artists, we need to rest, to imbibe new influences and experiences. But the drive to create is so irresistable that it often causes us to work too hard. Often exhausting ourselves and resulting in us ending up depressed and anxious.

This piece is about these battles as I dance with myself on a daily basis. The two characters represent the two opposing styles, which one will win the dance-off?

I made all the music for this piece – attempting to get a garage-punk vibe and sound. I played my drums, recorded them and then added the quitar, bass etc. I wanted to create a punk-rock, angsty feeling for this piece.

The NFT & The Fury

The NFT & The Fury

This piece is in reaction to the negative reaction to the popularity of Cryptoart. A similar phenomenon happened during the punk movement in the 1970’s where musicians attacked punks for being amateurish and ruining music. This piece refers back to the punk past and looks forward to a future where cryptoartists are able to create art without fear of being bullied. This NFT is for sale on Opensea
